International Studies

The International Studies Program is an integral part of all students' learning experiences at Charlotte Country Day School. The program spans all three divisions: Lower, Middle, and Upper School. It begins by providing students with a basic understanding of our own culture and values and evolves into the integration of international perspectives in all subject areas such as social studies, language arts, fine arts, science, math, and foreign languages.

Why is International Studies Important?
International Studies gives our students the skills they will need to coexist in a more connected world. Students must be:

  • Knowledgeable about other cultures
  • Sensitive to other cultures
  • Comfortable with a foreign language
  • Familiar with major global issues and current events
  • Able to examine issues from different perspectives using critical-thinking skills
