Graduation Requirements
To ensure a well-rounded education, each student earning
a Charlotte Country Day School diploma must satisfy requirements
in fine arts, computer, and physical education, in addition
to the traditional courses in English, mathematics, foreign
language, social studies, and science. Students will find
a variety of levels and options available in all disciplines.
English
Four credits, one credit per year
Foreign Language
Two credits in the same language
Mathematics
Three credits in Upper School
Social Studies
World Cultures, European History, and American History. Three
credits.
Science
Three credits, including Biology I and a credit in another lab science.
Fine Arts
1.5 credits
Computer Literacy
Advanced applications are integrated into required courses.
Students entering Upper School must be competent users of
word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
Electives
2.5 credits in courses beyond the minimum requirements
Physical Education
Two credits
Grade 9
Concepts of Physical Fitness/CPR and one additional co-curricular
PE or sport
Grade 10-12
Two quarters of physical education, or two sports, or one
sport and one quarter of PE every year. IB students complete
one PE or sport and their CAS requirement each year for grades
11 and 12.
