Student Life

Students in Upper School are encouraged to exercise influence and governance in shaping campus life, as well as do all that they can to nourish their own personal development. An important part of student life in Upper School is involvement in clubs, academic and governing councils, and community service projects. Service is so integral to student life that each club must perform at least two service projects a year to remain active. Upper School students have a wide variety of choices to suit their personal desires and interests:

Service Clubs
More than 10 clubs on campus are dedicated specifically to such service activities as tutoring elementary students, promoting diversity, raising environmental awareness, assisting less fortunate groups through food and clothing drives, and supporting a wide range of community service organizations. Click here for a list of ongoing community service projects conducted in the Upper School.

Publications
Upper School students can join the staffs of the newspaper, literary magazine, or yearbook.

Special Interest Clubs
Whether it's books, guitars, math, a foreign language, computers, film, or the performing arts, students can join a variety of special interest clubs. National Honor Society is also offered to high-achieving students.

Governing Bodies
In addition to student government, Country Day students may be tapped for participation on the honor council, student advisory committee, academic council, or as a peer counselor.
